Happy Halloween!

This year I made a peppermint drop costume based off of a tutorial on Pinterest.

  • Two yards of fabric, I picked a light weight polyester
  • A roll of 3″ grosgrain ribbon
  • White thread, I did a zigzag stitch down the ribbon

Hope you have a great Halloween….

A day in the city…..

Last Thursday we spent in New York City.  9.8.11 was also the kick off to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, so the city was buzzing for preparations for Fashions Night Out.  We started out the day walking through Bryant Park to go to the garment district to find Mood Fabrics.  Walking through the two floors of Mood was a lot to take in.  I can’t even imagine how the designers on Project Runway can focus in that store in a time crunch.  After we took the subway to the meat-packing district to visit the Knoll showroom and the High Line Park.  The High Line park is a landscape architects dream project.  I took a side trip to the Kate Spade Flagship store and received a ruby flower pin rights as I walked in.  We spent a few hours walking around central park and even renting a row boat.  You rent a boat for an hour and it only cost $12.  I think it is probably one of the cheapest things to do in the city and it was so fun with the perfect weather.  Hope you enjoy some of the photos from this fun day….

The Cape

Labor Day weekend was a great celebration of friend’s, food and a beach wedding.  We stayed in the quaint town of Dennis Port for the wedding at the Edgewater Beach Resort.  The resort was would be perfect for a week long stay at the cape.  On Labor Day we took a day trip to the tide pools in Brewster where you can walk out about a half a mile when the tide is out.  We finished out the day in Provincetown to take in the character and lobster.  Congratulations to Nick and Haley!

Off to NYC!

This friday my boyfriend and I are going to New York for a whole week! Yeah!  Well flying into New York and then driving to Cape Cod for a Labor Day Wedding.  I am excited for the fresh lobsters and crabs, yum yum.  Then the whole next week we will be spending back in NYC and upstate New York.

Here are a few photos from our last trip…

Here are a few things on my to do list while in the city:

Do you Pin?

So a few months ago I joined Pinterest and was addicted on the spot.  The purpose behind it is to be able to save all those great recipes, diy’s, party ideas, etc. that you find on the internet.  I pin everything from my latest book club books, chevron images and ideas for my dream house.

I think I have a addiction to stripes.  You can start following all of my Pinterest boards here.  Happy Pinning!

Derby Flower Pins

A new addition to the shop is coming soon….Derby Flower Pins.  We took side trip to Sausalito, CA when we traveled up to a wedding in Point Reyes, CA last weekend and I took the opportunity to take advantage of the great weather near the pier to take a few photos of one of my Derby Flower Pins.  Afterward, we walked down to a quaint little cafe called Cibo.  The building is partially restored with concrete floors and exposed brick…oh and great coffee and hot chocolate. 🙂
